Citron and rain

Today it is rainy and not a good day for outfit photos. But, I wore it, so this means I have to photograph the clothes, rain or shine!

I felt a little Aubrey Hepburn in this outfit. And when I say that by no means draw any conclusions that I think I look like her, just quite the opposite: I'm the beast to her waif like beauty.

It's the cropped pants, flats and wide swing style coat that get the comparisons.

Enough talk about Audrey Hepburn, the real star of this outfit is the 100% silk boy shirt from Madewell that I thrifted for $2.00.

Denim and Lace

This outfit needed something more after I put on the shirt and the skirt. I thought it looked too sweet with the lace top and pencil skirt, so I threw on this denim vest and it was instantly reformed!

I stayed with silver accessories to accent the shoes and felt put together.

Dots on Dots

I wore more polka dots, what a surprise!

This outfit came about by accident; I was in a mad panic to pull something together out of my closet. It went something like this: one skirt, then off, another skirt on, now off again, different skirt, same shirt and bam! Now we have it a purple polka dotted shirt with a pencil skirt with purple and black dots. And, I liked the way it looks!

It was probably a bit much for those non-pattern mixing folks out there but, it worked perfectly for me!

I even added a dot themed bracelet!

Crew-ish

I picked up this vintage, ochre printed skirt at the salvation army and was instantly reminded of a line I read in the J.Crew style guide (A.K.A. catalog). "Our designer found this gorgeous vintage print at a thrift store and we recreated it here for you..."

So, I could go on and wax poetically about the print and how it spoke to me but, instead I'll just say I love this skirt and I can't believe I was lucky enough to find it and that it fits like it was made for me!

I paired it with a silk shirt and sash but, added booties to give it some edge.

Green and orange

I just love the way Kelly green and orange play off of one another. That color combination in this outfit along with leopard kitten heels makes it a winner.

And, the jean jacket ties it all together and keeps it fun.

I think this is one of my favorite early fall outfits.

And the fact that one student looked at me as she entered lab and said, "oh, I just love those shoes!" doesn't hurt either!

Shirt dress

I quickly snapped these photos this week outside my building, I liked how this dress kept me comfortable and appropriate for the weather (still in the 70's and 80's) but looked like fall.

I had taken an iphone shot earlier in the day
after a haircut to see the length and how it looked. I used this picture for a better shot of the necklaces. (Please forgive the messy shelves in my office!)

Just Another Day

Just another pair of too short pants.
My full intended purpose of this outfit post is to get more of the items that I've thrifted out there on my blog.

So here you have a casual day outfit, fit for lab, paired with my $2 red wedge sandals that I thrifted unworn. The pants are from J.Crew, I purchase them in the spring, they are a navy blue Minnie. They are intended to be cropped but, I think the regular length leaves them looking too cropped. I have another pair of Minnie's and they are a long and look much better proportioned on my legs. Note to self: DON"T BUY REGULARS! you're too tall.

Goodbye Summer

I know it is still officially summer. The weather feels summery, the tilt of the earth hasn't hit the autumnal equinox but, fall has unofficially begun.

So, on Sunday I wore a summery outfit knowing that I would be progressing towards layers, browns, reds and tweed.

So this is my official "good bye summer" post.

I'm walking into Fall.
