Beautiful Fall

We've been having the most amazing fall weather here in upstate New York...it solidifies that this is my favorite time of year! Well, actually, I love every season.

I took a few quick outfit photos the other day and thought I would share.

Sweet Shorts

Thanks to all of my readers for your continuing kind words, thoughts and prayers as I move through the next phase of my breast cancer treatment. It has been six weeks since my final chemotherapy and I've started radiation therapy. I am doing seven weeks of external beam radiation on my left axial, breast region and sternum. It is an everyday treatment and I am 11 sessions in...a third of the way done! I'm busy but, I have taken outfit photos and I need to get back into the routine of posting my outfits. So here it goes...

I hesitantly thrifted this pair of lace shorts, I really loved them but was concerned about pulling them off at my age.

 I was pleasantly surprised with these pictures, I actually really like them.

And I think they look age appropriate on me with the simple styling and loose fit. What do you think? I know I'm not forever 21....

Rainy, Rainy

Well, I love my Hunter wellies and don't really need rain to wear them. But, we have had quite a lot of rain lately and I am looking forward to some sun to dry things up.

And warm things up...I put a long sleeved striped shirt under this chevron dress and added a denim jacket and scarf to be comfortable.

And a hug from my girl puts the warmest smile on my face!

Anthropology

I think I once made the statement here or at a comment post for another blog that I had never thrifted any item of clothing from Anthropologie. 

Well, I was wrong, and here is the Edme and Esyllte shirt to fess up. I am not that familiar with the store and their labels and I did not know it was from Anthropologie!  

As far as my fashion goes, I'm an east coast, northern preppy through and through! I can spot J.Crew in a thrift store quick as a wink. I think there is also a lot more Crew to be had in the shops I frequent (think Northeast preppy college towns) and I know there is a retail store and a factory store within an hour drive. The closest Anthropologie retail store is 101 miles away.

 
One of the fun aspects of thrifting is being introduced to new brands either current or vintage and I always enjoy learning more about different clothing labels. So I will keep my eyes open for more but still stick with my style aesthetic.

Casual midi

Currently, I am really liking the look of a baseball T. I amped this one up with a big necklace and kept the rest of the look very casual.

I find midi skirts to be a tricky length but I think it came together with the converse as understated as my statement necklace is overstated with my T shirt.

Maybe next time I'll rock this skirt with heels!

Random Kindness

This outfit is the result of a random and generous act of kindness from a sales associate at my local LOFT store. And one I wore to end my last dose dense administration of adriamycin-cytoxan chemotherapy (knocked me out and hopefully explains my absence).

After a Physical Therapy appointment for my lymphedema, I stopped by my local Loft store to scan the sales racks and hopefully be inspired! After trying on a few items, Jill, a sales associate came to help me in the changing room with sizing and alternate options.  As I chose the items I was going to purchase she asked me  "is there anything else in the store you'd like to try on? and I said, no one shirt is enough, my husband will say I don't need anymore clothes!" She insisted and I said pointing "I love those pants", in a few seconds she had them in my size and at the changing room...then she brought a shirt, a pair of shoes and an outfit was born. To finish up this amazing story, once I had the outfit on, she asked me "how to you feel?" and I said "I love it, I feel awesome". Jill then replied to me, "good, because, I'm going to buy that for you!" I cried and said, "NO" and she said "Yes, I can see you've been through enough and proceeded to the check out and bought it for me. 

It is a bit chilly in the infusion area so I added a few layers to the outfit with a chambray shirt and blazer. This blazer has been waiting patiently in my closet for spring, I thrifted it last winter and now I finally get to wear it. And I got so many complements and I had to share the story of Jill with everyone!

Amazing, I am so blessed and I hope I can inspire and help more people as a result of my experiences with cancer. Thank you for all the continued support and prayers. Last Friday I had my first of four dense doses of Taxol and I am feeling pretty well, I plan to catch up with my blogging!

Minty

I quickly threw this outfit on one morning last week to take my daughter to school. After I looked at it more closely I really liked the way it came together!

The mint cords kept me warm during this non-spring weather we are having but also keep everything looking fresh. I took pictures first with my Hunter's as I originally wore it and then took a shot in the house with my nude heels, more refined!

I picked up these pretty earrings from Target and they added a nice bit of sparkle.

My hair has since fallen out and I will post any old photos I have to keep up with the blog...and then you'll see me sporting hats and scarves and wraps, I just need to figure out how to make them look right and make the most of it! Thanks to everyone for all of your continued support, prayers and encouragement.

Pizza Party!!

I wore this outfit out with my husband, daughter and two friends for a Sunday afternoon pizza party. A chambray, striped shirt, jeans, a military inspired blazer and link necklace: how can you go wrong!

I brought the camera along to highlight the joy that comes out of these three little girls, and my husband liked my outfit so he ended up taking photos of it; thanks babe!

Pre Thanksgiving...brown & black

One facet of blogging I'm still trying to work out is the early setting sun. If I don't get pictures early in the day...I come home and take ones that look like this...yesh.

This is an outfit I wore before thanksgiving but never took the  time to post. I am not very fond of these pictures but, I did like the way the black gingham check came together with the brown pencil skirt. 

The bib necklace gave a touch of sparkle and color. Hopefully, off setting the frump factor of the black tights and booties.

Country Girl

After I cut the sleeves off of my dark wash denim jacket, I thought awww shucks, maybe I shouldn't have done that.

Well wouldn't you know, I was out thrifting at the salvation army half price day and found this great dark wash jean jacket for $3.00!

Now I have a dark wash denim jacket that fits better!

And I can wear the vest, too.

Forward thinking...

Now, I'm not one to push time on too quickly or wish away a moment. I really try to live one day at a time and savor what I have.  

All that said, I was thinking about fall and the trends we'll be seeing in this new season so I did a Google search and came up with a list of some trends for fall that I'd like to try. I wanted to share some of those trends that I felt I could embrace and shop my closet for and this is what I found:
