Vintage Style White Dress

This dress had such a vintage quality to the styling, I couldn't pass it up. 

So, I played it up with a wedge and a shot next to my 1940 Chevy vintage pick up truck!

These Stuart Weitzman wedges added to the overall vintage vibe.

1940s Vintage

I was really excited to wear this outfit, it is all thrifted and two of the items I thrifted this week.

It is the perfect country casual look to be stepping out of a 1940 vintage truck! 

Gingham shirt in a fresh green and an awesome pair of jeans, authentic like new citizens of humanity!

Rock in' the ROC

Today is my second cycle of chemotherapy at the Regional Oncology Center (ROC). My husband took these photos while I was waiting to see my oncologist.


Thanks to all of you for your prayers and continued support as I battle this disease. You all put a smile on my face with your love and words of encouragement.


I've been fighting nausea and fatigue as well as a cough and cold since my first infusion two weeks ago. I hope that explains my absence...I actually feel good today so I think it is important to highlight these moments!

Sweater Coat

Winter is not going any where and my dressing is definitely reflecting the weather! Bundled up in layers except when I take these pictures for you.

This is my first sweater coat and a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law. Where I live, in the winter, you need a sweater and a coat, so this picture is sans coat to focus on the sweater.

 I wore these great pair of Ralph Lauren gloves I thrifted, they are a beautiful ox blood colored leather.

  And a pretty combination of old and new bracelets, the gold flower linked one is a vintage auction find from my friend Jennifer. She went to an auction a few years ago and bought a jewelry box full of vintage...and every time she visits she brings my daughter (and sometimes me) a treasure from that box! Shhhhhh, this one was for my daughter.

Let it Snow

 Welcome December!

In the spirit of the season, I wore this wool winter white and mint snowflake sweater I thrifted about 6 months ago for a Saturday afternoon out with my daughter.

It's always fun to pull off an item you had styled in your mind and then are able to execute. I wore this with my boots for the cold and then changed into these vintage Salvatore Ferragamo loafers I thrifted last week.

The boots worked better with the outfit but, I just wanted to show these off! I think I'll get my $2 worth of wear...thinking of other ways to style...

Once in a Blue Moon

Okay so this is my place to share, to contribute and to have my say on life, fashion and style. And it has honestly been a great way to assert myself and find some individuality that was lacking in my life. Through this I've realized how much time and energy I put into what I wear, how I wear it, how I prepare to wear it and what I pay to wear it. Fashion is fleeting and I'm sure fashion bloggers come and go everyday. I don't want to be just another fashion casualty. I want this blog to be a true reflection of my style, my life. 

I recently took inventory of what I have thrifted this year and in that recount it occurred to me that I've only shared a fraction of these pieces in my outfit posts here. So, to be honest with myself, and my "need" to thrift I am not going to purchase anything more until I have showcased what I have here on this blog. I originally thought that I would just set out to do this and you would be none the wiser if I thrifted a bit here and there and then I realized I wanted to keep myself accountable and in doing so I am sharing this with you.

So today is a blue moon, the second full moon of a month, and this is my once in a blue moon post where I am actually focusing myself and looking critically at my fashion and my style habits. I will probably come back to this over the course of this journey and hopefully I will come out of this with a more keen thrifting eye, a better sense of  my style and a relevant, organized closet!

Forward thinking...

Now, I'm not one to push time on too quickly or wish away a moment. I really try to live one day at a time and savor what I have.  

All that said, I was thinking about fall and the trends we'll be seeing in this new season so I did a Google search and came up with a list of some trends for fall that I'd like to try. I wanted to share some of those trends that I felt I could embrace and shop my closet for and this is what I found:

Vintage Pendleton

I thrifted this vintage Pendleton, Country Sophisticates skirt just last week and originally thought that I would hem or alter it to a shorter length.

But, I wore it and loved the way the soft silky material comfortably swished around my legs on this hot day.

I figured a clothing company that has been around for as long as Pendleton, probably knew what they were doing when they designed this skirt some 30 years ago.

So, I tried to make it a little less dowdy and more trendy by pairing it with a simple grey T-shirt, cap toe flats and fun earrings. Now, does the T look better in or out?
