Rock in' the ROC

Today is my second cycle of chemotherapy at the Regional Oncology Center (ROC). My husband took these photos while I was waiting to see my oncologist.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and continued support as I battle this disease. You all put a smile on my face with your love and words of encouragement.

I've been fighting nausea and fatigue as well as a cough and cold since my first infusion two weeks ago. I hope that explains my absence...I actually feel good today so I think it is important to highlight these moments!

Chop, chop

Well, I didn't really want to but I made the decision to cut my hair and I'm glad I did. The idea of long chunks of hair falling out and washing down the drain did not sit well with me and I thought I should do something beneficial with what I have.

So, I cut 11.5 inches off of my hair to donate to Locks of Love.

My girl Lindsay at Caza Del Sol cut and colored my left over locks into a real sassy, awesome cut. I love it!

I should be sporting this look for the next few weeks before it all falls out.

Sunday Best

I've featured this silk blouse before but, I want to highlight this 100% Merino wool skirt I thrifted:

I wore this to church a few weeks ago and haven't posted the pictures.

As is commonly the case with thrifting, I go home and educate myself on brands I don't recognize but, can tell they are of very good quality. This Wolford skirt can still be purchased for $250, and it is really beautiful (I paid $2). Enough said, go thrift!

Update: My first chemotherapy treatment was on Friday and I am doing pretty well, tired with a bit of nausea. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. I'm told the next few days will be more difficult...until then keeping my spirits up with prayer and rest.

The Puff

I am loving my down puffy vests this winter, they look cool whether it is subzero or just in the 40's. I have quite a collection of them: light blue, black, red, white, and I have to restrain myself from buying anymore.

Here, I highlight my most recent, this green Lilly Pulitzer goose down vest:

Pop the vest over anything, it works!

 A hat and some Hunter's

Good to go!

But, if you could believe it, I'm loving them even more post mastectomy!  What a great way to give your self a little extra fluff! With one of these on, no one can tell that I only have one boob! And for the two weeks plus I had drains and tubes coming out of me, it was a great way to hide even more.

Full on Layers

I found these photos of an outfit I had worn before the snow let up.

These do a good job of showing how much I layer up in the winter around here. Leggings, shirt, skirt, jacket, puffy vest, boots and the down jacket I didn't pose in for the real warmth! I had to take the vest off to show the details of the pocket I loved on this jacket

I loved how this pleated skirt contrasted with the black and blue and grey; I call it my watercolor skirt.

Strength for Today

Belated Post: Thanksgiving in South Carolina

Found these photos on my iphone. I wore it one day during my trip to Hilton Head, SC to visit my husband's parents.

I liked the fun skirt, baseball T and statement necklace.

Sorry to include the bathroom sink but my iphone photo skills are not up-to-par!

Shirt: VS-thrifted
Skirt: George-old
Necklace: local boutique

Denim on Denim

Cropped pants are as hot as ever for spring and thrifting a pair of cropped boyfriend jeans last week gave me a reason to put some on!

The weather also warmed up to forty so I didn't feel so foolish wearing these outside!
The suede wedges anchored this look to still feel seasonally appropriate.

Yes, there is still plenty of snow on the ground but, I have to say, it was fun to break out of the boot habit!

Jeans: American Eagle-thrifted

(As always thanks for your continued readership and support through this difficult time. Connecting and writing here helps to keep my mind off the serious stuff!)

Today at Oncology

Pictures today from my visit to the oncologist:

I love this silk taffeta skirt; it is J.Crew and is called the sketch book roses skirt. Since it is still winter where I live, with fresh snow this morning, tights and boots were necessary. I polished the outfit up with this green statement necklace and felt great.

It didn't hurt that all the great ladies at the ROC were complementing my outfit, too! They made this one boobed, stage IV breast cancer fighting girl, feel awesome. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and prayers!

A little respite

A beautiful day made more beautiful by having a skating rink right in my front yard.

I love to ice skate, I've been doing it on any tiny patch or pond or creek of ice I could find for the last 35 years.

I thank everyone for their continued support and prayers as I fight this battle against breast cancer. I am going to use up some pre surgery photos before I start posting new post mastectomy ones. I'm feeling stronger and I am looking forward to having my drains removed so I can dress normally!
