Slouchy

Dressed up cut-off jeans...it's all the rage and this is my interpretation.

A slouchy, silky blouse and a wedge sandal take these Levi's out on the town.

It was a different look for me and I liked it for a Saturday night.

Do you notice my fuzzy halo? My hair is starting to grow back!!!  It is very fine and very light, I'm really curious to see what my new hair will look like. As my hair is growing back all of my remaining eyelashes and eyebrows are falling out. I'm struggling to look normal, but trying hard to stay fashionable!

Boyfriend Jeans?

These are not really my boyfriends jeans, I don't think I could have ever pulled off that look for real. I do remember in the late 80's cutting down the legs of my brother's Levi's and wearing them rolled and bunched up with a belt (FYI-my brothers hated me stealing their clothes).

I paired these with a sequined vest, silver heels and a fedora!

As well as a necklace I crafted from a few pieces of rummaged jewelry supplies.

I like this look edgy and not too literal. For me, I succeeded, I don't look like my boyfriend! Or my brother?

Not much of a Statement?

I pulled this necklace out to participate in the Marion Berry trend of the month style challenge for August: Statement Necklaces.

And then I thought "Is this a statement necklace?".

It makes a statement about me, I like classic colors and proportions and shapes. And
It will have to do since this is what I wore!

I know it must look like I ripped the sleeves off my jacket mid photo shoot but, that was not the case. I put the vest on in the morning and went out to photograph this outfit when I decided I was too chilly and I changed to the jean jacket instead of the vest.

Country Girl

After I cut the sleeves off of my dark wash denim jacket, I thought awww shucks, maybe I shouldn't have done that.

Well wouldn't you know, I was out thrifting at the salvation army half price day and found this great dark wash jean jacket for $3.00!

Now I have a dark wash denim jacket that fits better!

And I can wear the vest, too.

DIY Friday

I've been having fun doing small little projects and assorted DIY's with my daughter and this post features my most recent and a not so recent pair of altered jeans.

This anchor painted striped Tee is my most recent DIY. It was really easy and a fun activity that my daughter could join me in doing.

I got the idea and instructions from April at Knocked up Fabulous. I wasn't sure if I'd feature it here on my blog, but it was cooler today and when I got up and put jeans and this T-shirt on I thought I'd might as well share.

Short and Minty

I love this patterned skirt.

I thrifted this skirt back in March and was immediately attracted to this floral medallion pattern. When I first saw it I was excited, and thought "wow a pair of patterned shorts" but, upon closer inspection I saw that it was a skirt...a very short skirt, and I almost didn't buy it for that reason.

I couldn't get over how much I love the print, so I thought that in the very warm days of summer I will be able to pull this off.

So, I wore it and thumbed my nose to those who say you can't wear mini skirts after age 35! or is 40 or maybe 45?

 Well, I did it!

And, I'd like to think that at my home, on the lake, I can pull it off...it may be a different story out in public.

No Jorts

Here's the outcome of my latest DIY project.

JORTS!
think the real (and maybe only) trick to making a great pair of jean shorts is to have a great pair of jeans!

I poked around quite a few blogs for information and DIY tips on making jean shorts and thought I had gleaned all the pertinent information.

Off I went to the thrift store and found a pair of dark wash jeans in a larger size so I didn't have the edge of the jean pinching into my thigh and also so they gave off a more relaxed look.

Pretty simple, huh?

Well, I think that my execution is just fine. I think I'm just not happy with the overall fit and that is only due to the jean choice.
So, a word of wisdom when making jorts; only use a pair of jeans that you look gorgeous in. And if you do, then you'll have yourself a great pair of jorts.
