So Preppy

I put together this very preppy outfit to highlight this cool nautical shirt. It's probably not vintage but I'd say it's 20+years old.

But, the shirt aside, I really got thinking about my choice of footwear.
Boat shoes, Are they a fashion accessory?

 Maybe?

Not?

This outfit seems to go so appropriately with a pair, so for this and on the boat, I'd say they are more then a fashion accessory, they are a necessity. so, after I tore apart my closet looking for the Sperry's my husband bought me way, way back, I saw these metallic ones, oh, yes, in metallic. I'd say they are more accessory than necessity!

Floral and neon

So I caved in to the neon trend. No, it's not 1989, and this neon isn't day-glo bright and the floral skirt doesn't have a black background;

it's the new neon and this I like!

Not just because some one told me it was in but, because the extra color of the belt keeps this outfit from fading away.

I am loving the link detail on these shoes I dug out of the back of my closet.

Makes this outfit just right for a garden party.

Braided and Hip?

I think what I like most about this outfit and post is the cool braid in my hair.

I think it goes well with the casual patterned shorts and chambray ensemble.

And it makes me feel young and hip to show that I could even manage to braid behind my own head like that! Believe me, it was probably a fluke, but, it is nice to have a place to document a successful braid!

Tell me, are these shorts a camouflage print? I only ask because my husband said to me, "nice camo shorts"! and I was like "huh?, they're camouflage?"

Maybe I am young and hipper than I thought!

I just love this 'leg hug' picture, so sweet!

Thrifted Converse All*Star

nautical

I thrifted a brand new pair of white converse all stars ($8.00) and I played around with Polyvore to show you how I might wear them...stay tuned! Load me up with your ideas, if you'd like...this is my first pair of "adult" converse.

Dressed up Shorts

I deviated from my usual styling of shorts and went for a dressy version.

I really like liked the way this outfit came together with the patterned shorts,

Silk blouse,

heels,

and an extra touch of color and pattern in the belt.

To me, an overall success in shorts dressing!

White Skinnies

It took me a while to warm up to the trend of skinny jeans, I'm not sure if it was too much of an 80's flashback (my high school and college years) or the idea that on my curvier body, a boot cut gives a more flattering line.

Well, I have some skinny jeans now and these were the first pair I bought.

I think I'm beginning to like them and feel more up-to-date when I wear them.

But, as you can see, I do prefer to wear them with a bit of a heel, flats feel frumpy.

Fun wedges! Just the right touch with a giraffe print!
