Short and Minty

I love this patterned skirt.

I thrifted this skirt back in March and was immediately attracted to this floral medallion pattern. When I first saw it I was excited, and thought "wow a pair of patterned shorts" but, upon closer inspection I saw that it was a skirt...a very short skirt, and I almost didn't buy it for that reason.

I couldn't get over how much I love the print, so I thought that in the very warm days of summer I will be able to pull this off.

So, I wore it and thumbed my nose to those who say you can't wear mini skirts after age 35! or is 40 or maybe 45?

 Well, I did it!

And, I'd like to think that at my home, on the lake, I can pull it off...it may be a different story out in public.

No Jorts

Here's the outcome of my latest DIY project.

JORTS!
think the real (and maybe only) trick to making a great pair of jean shorts is to have a great pair of jeans!

I poked around quite a few blogs for information and DIY tips on making jean shorts and thought I had gleaned all the pertinent information.

Off I went to the thrift store and found a pair of dark wash jeans in a larger size so I didn't have the edge of the jean pinching into my thigh and also so they gave off a more relaxed look.

Pretty simple, huh?

Well, I think that my execution is just fine. I think I'm just not happy with the overall fit and that is only due to the jean choice.
So, a word of wisdom when making jorts; only use a pair of jeans that you look gorgeous in. And if you do, then you'll have yourself a great pair of jorts.

Oops, I've done it again!

So, I swore I would not post another chambray shirt outfit on my blog....

But, I just can't stop wanting to wear this shirt...and, my husband came home and said "you look nice, I like your outfit!"

So, I did it again!

I think this just shows the versatility of this item of clothing and,

it gives me an excuse to show off these brand new leather gladiators I thrifted for $2 and my thrifted, colored jeans.

Fresh Fruit

I love pulling this skirt out for summer, the colors are so fresh and fun.

I have yet to identify the fruit as they are depicted in this skirt. I think they are lemons, but then some are blue, blueberries?
I went all matchy-matchy here.

A vintage yellow multi-strand, beaded necklace that was my grandmother's, (circa 1960s?)

a white lace detailed T-shirt, simple, gold leather flats and a cardigan.

Color Block

I love this J.Crew pencil skirt, it's cotton and has pockets. Enough said.
I love wearing it, the way it looks and how it feels.

I put this outfit together and it just seems so simple.

Skirt, shoes, tank.

It's color blocked.

A snake skin printed peep toe, sling back.

A knotted tee

So perfect!

So Preppy

I put together this very preppy outfit to highlight this cool nautical shirt. It's probably not vintage but I'd say it's 20+years old.

But, the shirt aside, I really got thinking about my choice of footwear.
Boat shoes, Are they a fashion accessory?

 Maybe?

Not?

This outfit seems to go so appropriately with a pair, so for this and on the boat, I'd say they are more then a fashion accessory, they are a necessity. so, after I tore apart my closet looking for the Sperry's my husband bought me way, way back, I saw these metallic ones, oh, yes, in metallic. I'd say they are more accessory than necessity!

Floral and neon

So I caved in to the neon trend. No, it's not 1989, and this neon isn't day-glo bright and the floral skirt doesn't have a black background;

it's the new neon and this I like!

Not just because some one told me it was in but, because the extra color of the belt keeps this outfit from fading away.

I am loving the link detail on these shoes I dug out of the back of my closet.

Makes this outfit just right for a garden party.
